Minutes of the Regular Meeting – June 14, 2022
Gardiner Chamber Meeting Room
Chair Parks called the meeting to order at 7:08 PM. Richard Parks, Chairman, Greg Dalling, Vice-Chair and Bob Fuhrmann, Secretary/Treasurer were present, including the Administrative Manager, Barbara Bush; Beth Taylor was present as member of the public interested in joining the Board. Bianca Klein was present via Zoom, as a person interested in joining the Board. Rosie Barndt was present via Zoom as auditor for the District.
Ms. Barndt presented the 2021 audit to the Board of Directors. It was a clean, unmodified opinion. Her recommendation would be getting a report from the Gardiner Water and Sewer district as to their expenditures related to their 1% account each year. This will be her last year completing audits for the District and will send the Board some recommendations for new auditors. Vice-Chair Dalling moved to approve the 2021 audit as presented. Secretary/Treasurer Fuhrmann seconded the motion. No further discussion was needed; all voted in favor; none opposed. Motion passed.
Administrative Manager Bush presented the May meeting minutes. Secretary/Treasurer Fuhrmann moved to approve the May minutes. Vice-Chair Dalling seconded the motion. No discussion was needed; all voted in favor; none opposed. Motion passed. Administrative Manager Bush presented the current expenses and financial reports for the month. Vice-Chair Dalling moved to approve the current expenses and financial reports. Secretary/Treasurer Fuhrmann seconded the motion. No discussion was needed; all voted in favor; none opposed. Motion passed.
In Old Business, Chair Parks welcomed Beth Taylor and Bianca Klein to the meeting, explaining the vacancies and the general duties/responsibilities of Board members. A discussion was held, answering their questions. Secretary/Treasurer Fuhrmann moved to appoint both Beth Taylor and Bianca Klein to serve on the Gardiner Resort Tax Board as fill-in positions until the Spring of 2023. Vice-Chair Dalling seconded the motion. No further discussion was needed; all voted in favor; none opposed. Motion passed.
In other Old Business, Admin Manager Bush discussed a few different businesses and attempts to get registrations completed. Chair Parks would like to get some legal advice concerning the Armory business in town to clarify what parts of their business is taxable or not. Admin Manager will follow up with legal counsel and report back to the Board in August.
In New Business, Secretary/Treasurer Fuhrmann recommended purchasing a Zoom account for the District at a cost of approximately $150/year. Vice-Chair Dalling moved to purchase the Zoom account. Secretary/Treasurer Fuhrmann seconded the motion. No further discussion was needed; all voted in favor; none opposed. Motion passed. Secretary/Treasurer will get that account set up.
In other New Business, Admin Manager explained to the Board the request from the Gardiner Chamber of Commerce for the additional $219.94 needed to complete the installation of an AED at the Chamber office. A discussion was held about how to fund this, as their current appropriation does not cover it. Vice-Chair Dalling moved to donate the funds needed, $219.94 from the District’s operating budget. Secretary/Treasurer Fuhrmann seconded the motion. No further discussion was needed; all voted in favor; none opposed. Motion passed.
There was no public comment.
The next regular meeting will be held on MONDAY, July 11th at 7:00 PM at the Gardiner Visitor Center. Secretary/Treasurer Bob moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:59 PM. Vice-Chair Dalling seconded the motion. No discussion was needed; all voted in favor; none opposed. Motion passed.
