Secretary/Treasurer Fuhrmann moved to approve the current expenses and financial reports, with the addition of check # 1396. Vice-Chair Dalling seconded the motion. In Old Business, Director Klein continued her update to the Board on the state-wide resort tax meeting that was held in October 2023. She is still tracking down the information regarding the new law, enabling resort districts to use up to 10% of the 1% for housing. The Gardiner districts’ 1% is currently being collected for a water district project. Admin Manager Bush updated the Board on collections. Two letters will be sent this week certified mail. Chairman Parks reported a concerned citizen asked him about the streetlights that were damaged in the fire.
In New Business, a discussion was had concerning making changes to the Ordinance and possibly its renewal. Members of the Board who weren’t involved in the beginning were updated on the process and how long it could take. Three areas to possibly address were: to extend the resort tax season to April through November or to collect it year-round; to extend the boundaries of the district; to increase the years the tax is authorized or to remove a deadline, making it last into perpetuity. The Board agreed taking some action was necessary. Admin Manager Bush will contact the Park County election office for deadlines/process to get something on the ballot. This topic will be discussed again at the February board meeting.
There was no Public Comment.
